QuarterLink terms

Terms and Conditions

The rules for using QuarterLink, including account authority, spreadsheet workflows, HMRC connection, trial limits, billing, support, and acceptable use.

Last updated: 15 June 2026

Software, not tax advice

QuarterLink helps with HMRC-recognised bridging workflows, evidence, and submission controls. It does not replace HMRC guidance or a qualified adviser.

Trial mode is setup-only

Trial users can explore workflows but cannot make real HMRC submissions.

Live filing is gated

Supported submissions require authority, open obligations, supporting records, MFA, module access, billing/access state, and live access where applicable.

The service

QuarterLink provides HMRC-recognised Making Tax Digital for Income Tax bridging software for self-employed people, landlords, bookkeepers, accountants, and accountancy practices who want to keep spreadsheet-led digital records while using supported HMRC workflows.

QuarterLink does not perform its own tax calculation. Where available, it may display HMRC-returned tax position information so users can review records from HMRC.

Your authority and responsibilities

  • Only connect HMRC accounts or submit data where you have authority to act.
  • Keep HMRC credentials, QuarterLink login details, MFA devices, passkeys, security keys, and recovery codes secure.
  • Maintain accurate digital records and check spreadsheet-derived figures before relying on them.
  • Use a separate account or authorised workspace for a different taxpayer where the product requires it.
  • Review due dates, obligations, evidence, and HMRC responses. QuarterLink can help surface records, but responsibility for filing remains with the taxpayer or authorised agent.

HMRC connection and submissions

HMRC access uses user-authorised OAuth. QuarterLink uses that authority to sync supported HMRC records and, where all controls allow it, submit supported updates.

A real submission can be blocked by Trial Mode, missing MFA, missing HMRC authority, no open obligation, incomplete evidence, tenant/account restrictions, billing state, role permissions, module availability, emergency controls, runtime flags, or production signoff.

Feature availability

  • Some workflow areas may appear in planning copy or disabled screens before they are available for live filing.
  • Do not treat a workflow as available until your workspace shows the feature as enabled and the workflow passes its readiness checks.
  • QuarterLink may change, pause, or gate workflow areas as HMRC requirements, security, or rollout decisions change.

No tax advice

QuarterLink is software. It does not calculate or decide your tax position, guarantee HMRC acceptance, replace professional advice, or remove your obligation to keep accurate records and meet deadlines.

Billing, cancellation, and access

  • Stripe handles hosted checkout, payment methods, invoices, payment retries, and billing portal actions. QuarterLink stores billing references and status records, not card numbers.
  • Access can change when a trial ends, subscription is cancelled, payment fails, complimentary access expires, a plan is changed, or an account is restricted.
  • Cancellation stops future access according to the billing state shown in your workspace or Stripe-hosted billing flow. It does not erase records that need to be retained for tax, billing, support, security, audit, or legal reasons.

Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt unauthorised access, bypass role or security controls, overload the service, scrape private data, submit false data, or misuse HMRC APIs.
  • Do not upload malicious files, macro-enabled files, encrypted files, or files unrelated to the supported workflow.
  • Do not use QuarterLink in a way that breaches law, HMRC requirements, another person's rights, or service security.

Availability and suspension

Features may change or be paused to protect users, HMRC data, billing integrity, security, compliance, support, or service reliability. Emergency controls can restrict access or submissions where needed.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, QuarterLink is not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate user data, missed deadlines, HMRC rejection, unauthorised account use, third-party service outages, or use outside supported workflows. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
